POLICIES FOR ADMISSION

Admission to Holy Spirit of Tagbilaran is open to all who wish to enroll. Admission is determined by the applicant’s fitness, ability to cope with the educational program of the school, and her/his potential to respond to the HSS Institutional Visio/Mission.
The Admission Committee is responsible for selecting applicants. It bases its decisions principally on results of entrance tests, on the interview, on past academic performance as shown in the Form 138 and on the recommendation of the principal.
The entrance tests cover general intelligence, grade/year achievement and verbal ability.
As a rule, HSS does not accept transferees for Grade 6/4th Yr. Pupils/Students who left the school and desire to come back are required to undergo the same procedure required of new applicants.

SCHOLARSHIP/ PRIVILEGES/ TUITION FEES
A number of scholarships are available to qualified applicants. These would include the HSS grant, the scholarship grant to valedictorian and salutatorian in a graduating class not less than forty, the S.S.p.S. Community grant, and the grants from various agencies and benefactors.
Applicants for scholarships must fill out a Scholarship Aid Questionnaire and submit it to the office of the Admission and Aid together with the application Form for Registration. The scholarship grantees are selected on the basis of:
· intellectual ability and proven academic competence
· financial needs as indicated by the Scholarship/Financial Aid Questionnaire
· income status as indicated in the Income Tax Return
· recommendation and certification of good moral character by the Principal
The Committee on Admission and Aid makes its decision on every applicant after examining the result of the entrance tests together with the records and inquiring into the financial status of the applicant’s family.

TUITION FEES AND OTHER EXPENSES
School expenses include tuition fees, registration fess and miscellaneous fees( Posted at the different conspicuous places of the school)

ADMISSSION REQUIREMENTS AND PROCEDURES
A. AGE REQUIREMENT:
NURSERY - The child must be 3 at the beginning of the school year.
KINDER - The child must be 4 at the beginning of the school year.
PREP - The child must be 5 at the beginning of the school year.
GRADE 1 - The child must be 6 at the beginning of the school year.

B. OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
A. KINDER, PREP AND GRADE 1
a. Birth Certificate
b. Recommendation from the Principal/Guidance Counselor/Adviser of previous school attended
B. GRADES 2-6; High School
a. Birth Certificate
b. Form 138(Report Card) – applicant must have no failing grade from the first to fourth quarter in all subjects and must have an average grade of at least 80%
c. Recommendation from the Principal/Guidance Counselor/Adviser of previous school attended

C. PROCEDURES:
1. Submit the requirements to the Registrar’s Office before testing.
2. Secure application from the Registrar’s Office.
3. Get your schedule for testing.
4. Pay the testing fee at the Treasurer’s Office.
5. Go to the Guidance Office for testing on the scheduled date. Present the accomplished Application Form B to the Guidance Counselor.

D. TEST RESULTS:
Test results will be released one week after the examination or as scheduled. Parents are required to come personally for the results.

E. RESERVATION:
The applicants who passed the test are required to pay a reservation fee no later than one(1) week after the scheduled release of test results. This amount is deductible from the tuition fee.

F. OTHER REQUIREMENTS UPON ENROLMENT:
a. Photocopy of baptismal certificate
b. Medical/health certificate
c. 3 1x 1 I.D. pictures
d. Test results
e. Reservation receipt
f. Confirmation Certificate ( if the child is confirmed)
